Meet Our Staff
Tom England, Owner
A one-time scientist for the government, Tom switched his focus in 2000 to something a little more light-hearted and rewarding…owning a toy store. He loves what he does, plans never to grow old, and will tell anyone who asks: “I’m excited to get up every morning and go to work because it’s always an adventure.”
Lisa Shinn, Manager
Lisa came to the Bear family in July 2013 from the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. When you hear someone hollering “Ya’ll come back!” you’ll know you’ve found her. She has been the buyer and general manager for the store since late 2014, and she will happily tell you it’s the best job she’s ever had.
Bonnie Monnier, Marketing and Events Coordinator

Olivia joined the Dancing Bear family in December 2015 and is the official blogger for the Bear. She graduated last year with a bachelor’s in philosophy and a minor in journalism, and hopes to continue writing wherever life takes her. Olivia enjoys working at a toy store because she gets to play at work and meet lots of fun, young customers!
Mina grew up in Frederick, attending local high schools before moving to the wild west, where she graduated with a Russian studies degree from the University of Wyoming. She’s been a part of the Bear family since June 2015. Since then, she has rediscovered toys she grew up with and has been able to watch younger kids uncover the wonder she found in those same toys. Mina also enjoys being a life guard, acting, Pokemon, playing with her two dogs and above all having fun!
Bethany Elliot does kickbox and loves to read and hike. She’s been with the Bear for two years, and will be attending SUNY ESF in Syracuse, New York, in the fall of 2016 to major in environmental biology.
Josphine has lived in Frederick her entire life and loves everything downtown has to offer. She has a passion for cosplay and Japanese street fashion, so she’s a pretty creative and crafty person! Her favorite things are frozen yogurt, video games, and pugs!
Kellen is 18 years old and studies social work at Frederick Community College. She has been going to the Bear since she was but a wee one, so you can imagine her joy upon her hire! She loves to have fun and play around– she invites you to do the same!
